Retail shelf notes

Ten short notes from reading 121 face towel product pages in six markets between 12 and 18 October 2026, plus eleven China records kept in a separate panel. Each note quotes the pages it came from. None of them is a market size, and none of them ranks countries.

The short version

  1. Ten notes, one fixed pool of pages. 121 face towel product pages captured in six markets between 12 and 18 October 2026, plus eleven listings on the Chinese domestic market kept as a separate comparison panel.
  2. Every figure is a count of what a page displayed, not a share of the market: who printed a GSM, how a fiber is named, what a size label shows, what a pack holds, what a price works out to.
  3. Each note links the pages it read, so a figure can be checked at its source. These are observations of retail pages, not a market-size estimate, a price index, or a brand ranking.

Last reviewed 18 October 2026. The full source register covers 154 pages.

The notes

Ordered as they were written: specification first, then size and pack, then price and channel. Every figure is a count of what a page displayed, not a share of the market.

18 October 2026Specification Four of 121 face towel listings printed a GSM number We read 121 retail product pages across six markets in October 2026. GSM, the number buyers ask for first, showed up on four of them. 18 October 2026Materials A fiber name is not a fiber recipe 81 of 121 pages named a fiber. Forty-four gave a ratio you could actually specify from. 18 October 2026Specification One UK page lists two different fibers for the same towel Mysa World's specification table says polyester and cotton, plain. The description says plant fiber, pearl. Both are on the same page. 18 October 2026Sizes A size label is half a specification Sixty-nine of 121 pages gave a size you could compare. Korea managed four. Japan managed nineteen of nineteen. 18 October 2026Packaging Fifty sheets is the default pack, except in Japan and Korea Base-pack count appeared on 110 of 121 pages. The median was 50 in four markets and 60 in two. 18 October 2026Packaging Eighteen names for five kinds of pack Forty-nine pages described their packaging. The words they used rarely matched each other. 18 October 2026Buying A 300 count and a zero price: two ways a unit price goes wrong Two US listings in the panel would break an automated price comparison. Neither seller did anything unusual. 18 October 2026Markets In the UAE, half the price-per-sheet pairs came from purchase agents Seventeen valid pairs. Eight of them sit on channels that buy abroad and resell locally. The median moves when you separate them. 18 October 2026Markets A page in German is not a German listing One Beauty Bay page is written in German, priced in pounds, and ships from the UK. It never entered the German panel. 18 October 2026Markets China's shelf: hanging packs, 180 sheets, and almost no GSM Eleven records, kept separate from the international panel. Two of them state a weight, and both say 80 GSM.

These notes come from a fixed pool of product pages collected for one research pass, not from a rolling tracker. A page that has since been edited, re-priced, or delisted will not match what is quoted here. Where a page contradicted itself, both readings are kept and the conflict is flagged rather than resolved.
